Hemangiomas infantiles tratados con aplicación secuencial de láser de colorante pulsado y Nd:YAG: estudio retrospectivo

Abstract: We believe that treatment with dual-wavelength light from a pulsed dye laser and a Nd:YAG laser is a viable treatment option for infantile hemangiomas when first-line therapies are ineffective or contraindicated.

“…A neodymium:Yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser has also been used occasionally for treating IHs with a prominent deep component[31,41,42]. However, the challenge of the Nd:YAG laser for the treatment of vascular lesions is the narrow therapeutic window.…”

“…As it penetrates deeper (5-6 mm) than PDL (0.75-1 mm), it is indicated in the treatment of deep or mixed hemangiomas, especially with the combination of both types of lasers [69,70]. The main disadvantage is the pain experienced during the laser session, which may require the use of general or local anesthesia [70][71][72].…”

“…laser-argon, Nd-YAG laser, CO 2 laser, fractionate photothermolisis or dye-pulsed laser [ 14 ]. Both types can present with disfiguring side effects, such as disfiguring scars, or ulceration [ 37 , 38 ]. Laser therapy can also be used for residual hemangiomas with fibro-fatty tissue remnants [ 38 ].…”
