“…For other users the advantages of a tactile BCI are that it allows them to look and listen to their environment rather than to stimuli necessary for controlling the BCI, and that tactile stimuli can easily go unnoticed by others. Although a BCI with tactile stimuli to for example the hands and wrists could work as well (Satomi et al, 1995; Ito and Takamatsu, 1997; Nakajima and Imamura, 2000) and would be suitable for some applications, tactile stimuli around the waist are specifically appropriate for navigation displays (van Erp and van Veen, 2004; van Erp et al, 2005) and thus a logical choice for navigation BCIs.
