Abstract:Catheter-related bloodstream infection, although a major cause of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis population, is rarely associated with septic pulmonary emboli (SPE). SPE is generally associated with endocarditis or right atrial thrombus. We describe a case of a young man on hemodialysis with fever, who was subsequently diagnosed to have SPE in the absence of endocarditis or right atrial thrombus.
