Abstract: Background. Unfractionated heparin is administered in patients undergoing veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO). Anticoagulation monitoring is recommended, with an anti-activated factor X (anti-Xa) targeting 0.3 to 0.7 IU/mL.
