“…As we conclude, we encourage researchers concerned about publishing work on mental health in marketing journals to consider two final insights. First, top marketing journals are increasingly calling for research that matters (Andrews et al, 2022;Chandy et al, 2021;Mende and Scott, 2021;Scott et al, CBPR is a collaborative research approach that includes mental health consumers and other stakeholders as full partners in all aspects of the research, such as people with mental illness, their family members and service providers (Corrigan and Shapiro, 2010) Members of the community being studied work collaboratively with health-care professionals and researchers to develop research questions, recruitment practices, risk management strategies, etc. Incorporate a pre-test phase for your research Pre-test survey instruments, research materials, procedures and protocols before engaging fully in the research Doing this kind of trial run allows for the assessment the reaction of and the impact on research participants and the research team and allows for any necessary adjustments Know your competencies and your limitations Even those with extensive training have limitations and consult with colleagues for situations beyond their competencies Researchers should not be afraid to ask for help or discontinue research if they feel they are placing themselves or others at risk Engage in self-care and team-care…”

“…The SDGs continue to garner increasing support within marketing scholarship as a vehicle to engage with societal issues, as well as a mechanism to be relevant and have an impact (Bolton, 2022;Conduit et al, 2021;de Ruyter et al, 2022;Rosenbloom, 2022;Scott et al, 2022;. For example, Scott et al (2022, p. 1) state that the SDG framework allows scholarship to have "consistent .…”

“…The SDGs provide businesses with the opportunity to rethink their purpose and marketing strategy to contribute toward the SDG agenda by building and maintaining sustainable relationships with consumers and other important stakeholders to improve the social and natural environments (e.g. Bolton, 2022;Rosenbloom, 2022;Scott et al, 2022). Specifically, marketing is about creating value such that the short-term goals are not attained at the cost of harming the long term, meaning combining both profits (short term) while keeping in mind the purpose of its existence (long term).…”

“…In recognition, we offered special sections that included articles that celebrate the Journal 's founding (Kinnear and Murphy 2021), its global impact (Shultz et al 2022), and the diverse areas of policy it can inform (Andrews et al 2022), among other celebratory work. In addition, we feature two empirical articles: one that considers observable trends around meaningful topics published by the Journal over its 40-year history (Martin, Borah, and Scott 2021) and a forward-looking survey of MPP community members on the future impact the Journal can make in advancing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs; Scott, Hassler, and Martin 2022). Indeed, these efforts showcase our belief that JPP&M has been at the forefront of society's most relevant topics and conversations, but also that articles published in its pages can help solve our planet's most pressing problems and truly make the world a better place through meaningful impact, along the lines of the UN SDGs (see also Mende and Scott 2021).…”
