Hesperidin from Citrus sinensis Cultivated in Dezful, Iran

Abstract: This study described procedures for extracting and quantitation of hesperidin in the waste orange peel of Dezful. Two extracting procedure were used. In procedure A hesperidin was isolated from orange peel by extracting the dry peel first with petroleum ether, removing the essential oil and then with methanol. In procedure B alkaline extraction followed by acidification of the extract was used. It was purified by treatment with formamide-activated charcoal. Detailed analysis of UV, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and Mass s… Show more

“…Also, most flavonoid compounds are bound to a sugar part and are named the glycoside molecules. [15] Zingerone is an inexpensive and nontoxic compound with diverse pharmacological activities. Zingerone, a biologically active phenolic alkanone found in Zingiber officinale, had various pharmacological activities including anti-apoptotic, antiinflammatory, and protecting myocardial infarction and irritable bowel disorder.…”

“…All the CC fractions were subjected to enzyme assay and the most active fraction on preparative TLC yielded compounds 1–3 , using the following systems: compound 1 (15 mg), chloroform–ethyl acetate (7:3); compound 2 (17 mg), ethyl acetate–methanol (9:1); compound 3 (13 mg), ethyl acetate–methanol (9.8:0.2), as shown in Fig. . The chloroform‐soluble fraction (CSC) of Camellia sinensis (1.73 g) was chromatographed using a silica gel column, which afforded CC fractions SA‐1, SA‐2, SA‐3, SA‐4 and SA‐5 on elution with n ‐hexane (100%, 250 mL), n ‐hexane–EtOAc (9:10, 250 mL), n ‐hexane–EtOAc (70:30, 250 mL), n ‐hexane–EtOAc (20:80, 200 mL) and EtOAc (100%, 250 mL), respectively.…”

Preparative TLC of the n-hexane-EtOAc fraction in the system of n-hexane-ethyl acetate (10:90) resulted in compound 4 (10 mg), as shown in Fig.…”
