Heterostructured Graphene@Silica@Iron Phenylphosphinate for Fire‐Retardant, Strong, Thermally Conductive Yet Electrically Insulated Epoxy Nanocomposites

Qiang Chen,
Siqi Huo,
Yixia Lu
et al.

Abstract: The portfolio of extraordinary fire retardancy, mechanical properties, dielectric/electric insulating performances, and thermal conductivity (λ) is essential for the practical applications of epoxy resin (EP) in high‐end industries. To date, it remains a great challenge to achieve such a performanceportfolio in EP due to their different and even mutually exclusive governing mechanisms. Herein, a multifunctional additive (G@SiO2@FeHP) is fabricated by in situ immobilization of silica (SiO2) and iron phenylphosp… Show more

“…In the infrared spectrum of PADP, the P–H stretching vibration peak was at 2380 cm –1 and the CC stretching vibration of the benzene ring skeleton absorption peak was at 1615 cm –1 . The peaks at 1165 and 712 cm –1 were considered strong PO and P–O stretching vibration peaks, respectively. , Meanwhile, the peak at 1605 cm –1 corresponds to the characteristic absorption of EG …”

“…The peaks at 1165 and 712 cm −1 were considered strong PO and P−O stretching vibration peaks, respectively. 32,33 Meanwhile, the peak at 1605 cm −1 corresponds to the characteristic absorption of EG. 34 The CPCM contains the peaks at 1740, 712, 1165, and 1605 cm −1 , which were assigned to the characteristic peaks of PA, PADP, and EG.…”

“…The FTIR spectra of SiO 2 , SiO 2 @Cu 2 O, and SCP are presented in Figure a. For SiO 2 , the peaks observed at 1095 and 806 cm –1 were assigned to the asymmetric and symmetric stretching vibrations of Si–O–Si, and the peaks at 3435 and 1640 cm –1 were attributed to the stretching vibrations of −OH. Compared with the infrared absorption spectrum of SiO 2 , a notable absorption peak was visible in the SiO 2 @Cu 2 O FTIR spectrum at 615 cm –1 , corresponding to the shearing vibrational absorption peak of Cu–O. , With regard to SCP, signals at 1440, 1160, 916, and 741 cm –1 were associated with C–N, PO, P–N, and P–C stretching vibrations, respectively. The comprehensive signals of SiO 2 , SiO 2 @Cu 2 O, and SCP provided clear evidence of the successful immobilization of Cu 2 O as well as the phosphorus and nitrogen elements on the surface of SiO 2 .…”

“…The stability, high performance, and multifunctionality of these polymers ensured the secure operation of nuclear facilities. Epoxy resin (EP), bismaleimide resin (BD), and polyimide (PI) were commonly employed in shielding modules and structural components. Epoxy resin exhibits the lowest curing temperatures and simplified fabrication processes but shows the lowest heat resistance and T g compared to BD and PI. Given their exposure to complex thermal environments, irradiation environments, and high-load situations, the high heat resistance, elevated T g , outstanding radiation endurance, superior mechanical strength, and shielding capability of epoxy resins became paramount to ensure nuclear facilities’ safety and expand the scope of application.…”
