Hexacyanometalate molecular chemistry: trinuclear CrNi 2 complexes; micro-SQUID magnetisation studies of intermolecular interactions

Abstract: (dienpy2)]2](ClO4). The ground state spin value is 7/2 for the three systems (ferromagnetic interaction between chromium(III) and nickel(II) ions). The magnetisation of the three CrNi2 complexes was measured using an array of microSQUIDs in a temperature range between 0.04 K and 7 K, under a magnetic field up to 1 T. The three samples present a three dimensional magnetic ordering. The correlation between the structure and the intermolecular coupling is analysed in terms of steric hindrances of the terminal lig… Show more

“…The key idea is to use polydentate amine ligands in order to avoid polymerization and get discrete entities with well-defined spin and anisotropy [15,16]. Most of the compounds are fully described in the literature [17,18]. They may be divided into two groups: (i) isotropic high spin molecules (CrCu 6 , CrNi 6 , and CrMn 6 ) and (ii) nearly isotropic molecules with no detectable energy gap or small one 1 K (CrCu 4 , CrNi 2 , CrNiMn 5 , CrNi 2 Mn 4 , CrNi 2 Ni 4 ).…”

“…A series of bi-, tri-, tetra-, hexa-and hepta-nuclear heterobimetallic complexes are reported [M(CN) n2 (CN-M'Lp) 6 ). 94 They differ from each other by the nature of the terminal ligand and of the counter anion. The ground state spin value is 7/2 for the three systems (ferromagnetic interaction between chromium(III) and nickel(II) ions).…”

“…Here we report the magnetic relaxation behavior in three isostructural cyano-bridged 3d-4f linear heterotrinuclear compounds, ( (2); Ln = Dy III , TM = Co III (3); HMPA = hexamethylphosphoramide}, in which the central lanthanide ions exhibit an axially elongated octahedral coordination geometry with a perfect D 4h symmetry. Utilizing the [TM(CN) 6 ] 3− (TM = Fe III , Cr III ) precursors as bridging or terminal ligands has been reported to successfully construct similar trinuclear structure with another transition metal ion [42,43].…”
