Hexagonal-like Nb2O5 Nanoplates-Based Photodetectors and Photocatalyst with High Performances

Abstract: Ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors are important tools in the fields of optical imaging, environmental monitoring, and air and water sterilization, as well as flame sensing and early rocket plume detection. Herein, hexagonal-like Nb2O5 nanoplates are synthesized using a facile solvothermal method. UV photodetectors based on single Nb2O5 nanoplates are constructed and the optoelectronic properties have been probed. The photodetectors show remarkable sensitivity with a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 9617… Show more

“…The sharp and well resolved peaks match, exclusively, with the standard powder XRD pattern of hexagonal Nb 2 O 5 given in the JCPDS through PDF No [00–007–0061]. Contrary to a previous report, the Nb 2 O 5 is achieved in single phase i.e., hexagonal. Employing the Scherrer's equation [ d = 0.94λ/βcosθ , where d is the mean crystallite size, λ is the X‐rays wavelength (1.542 Å), β is the full width at half maximum and θ is the angle of diffraction], the average crystallite size of 35 ± 1 nm was calculated for the Nb 2 O 5 nanostructures.…”

“…There are several semiconductor nanostructures like CuO, Fe 2 O 3 , ZnO, ZnS, CuS, Nb 2 O 5 and TiO 2 have been developed for the photocatalytic degradation of various organic pollutants [21][22][23][24][25][26][27]. Among these semiconductors, CuO nanostructure is a potential candidate for the catalytic activities due to its higher surface area and ease tuning of size and shape [28].…”
