High Absorptivity and Ultra-Wideband Solar Absorber Based on Ti-Al2O3 Cross Elliptical Disk Arrays

Abstract: Perfect metamaterial absorbers have attracted researchers’ attention in solar energy harvesting and utilization. An ideal solar absorber should provide high absorption, be ultra-wideband, and be insensitive to polarization and incident angles, which brings challenges to research. In this paper, we proposed and optimized an ultra-wideband solar absorber based on Ti-Al2O3 cross elliptical disk arrays to obtain the ultra-wideband absorption of solar energy. The addition of a cavity greatly improves the energy-abs… Show more

“…The FOM value is also an important index for evaluating the performance of the refractive index sensor, which is expressed as FOM = S /FWHM. 58 As shown in Fig. 8(c), we calculated the FWHM of the absorption curves and their corresponding FOM for different refractive indices.…”

“…The structure determines the nature of the surface isotropic excitation resonance when the geometrical parameters reach a certain value and a certain frequency of electromagnetic wave. 21,22 Through extensive simulations, the optimal geometrical parameters were obtained as follows: width of the periodic cell P = 35 μm, h = 7 μm, R = 16.5 μm, a = 12 μm, w = 2 μm. As a material, SiO 2 is considered to be the ideal medium, with a dielectric constant of 2.13.…”

“…To further investigate the effect of the proposed sensor on the variation of structural parameters, we also analyzed the characteristic parameters, such as full width at half maximum (FWHM), figure of merit (FOM), sensitivity ( S ) and resolution ( R ), and discuss these later in the paper, where FOM, S, and R can be calculated by the following equations: 44 where Δ denotes the amount of change in the independent variable in this paper, δ λ peak denotes the amount of change in the resonance wavelength, S λ denotes the wavelength sensitivity, and δ λ min denotes the minimum wavelength resolution of an ordinary spectrum analyzer, which is taken as 0.1 nm in this paper.…”
