High-accuracy camera calibration method based on coded concentric ring center extraction

Abstract: In the field of three-dimensional (3-D) metrology based on fringe projection profilometry (FPP), accurate camera calibration is an essential task and a primary requirement. In order to improve the accuracy of camera calibration, the calibration board or calibration target needs to be manufactured with high accuracy, and the marker points in calibration image require to be positioned with high accuracy. This paper presents an improved camera calibration method by simultaneously optimizing the camera parameters … Show more

“…A grid of circles or checkerboard patterns are typically used as the calibration object. Yu et al proposed a calibration target composed of coded concentric ring patterns [21]. Another approach by Rathnayaka et al [22] presented a modified version of the traditional checkerboard pattern by incorporating embedded checkerboard patterns.…”

“…This technique has been widely used in industrial inspection, plastic surgery, and 3D printing 1 3 A structured light system usually consists of a pin-hole projector for projecting fringe patterns and a pin-hole camera for collecting deformed fringe images, and it can achieve 3D reconstruction in common scenes well. However, because of the influences of the perspective error and the distortion of common lenses, the structured light systems cannot provide an ideal effect in scenes with high demand for reconstruction accuracy.…”
