Environmental friendly energy sources like solar, fuel or wind cells provide low voltage levels. Grids work with higher voltage levels so step up is required before connecting these new energy sources to grid. Conventional boost converter is not able to provide a large DC gain. There are some topologies available in literature which provides required high DC gain. Without a suitable control system, converter's output may change due to disturbances like: Input voltage's changes and output load's changes. This paper designs a controller for one of the recently proposed high DC gain topologies. Converters dynamical equations are extracted using State Space Averaging (SSA). Controller is designed based on the obtained dynamics.Close loop system has been tested in Simulink ® environment. Simulation results showed the performance of designed controller.

Abstract-A New breed of a buck boost converter, named as the XY converter family is proposed in this article. In the XY family, 16 topologies are presented which are highly suitable for renewable energy applications which require a high ratio of DC-DC converter; such as a photovoltaic multilevel inverter system, high voltage automotive applications and industrial drives. Compared to the traditional boost converter and existing recent converters, the proposed XY converter family has the ability to provide a higher output voltage by using less number of power devices and reactive components. Other distinct features of the XY converter family are i) Single control switch ii) Provide negative output voltage iii) Non-isolated topologies iv) High conversion ratio without making the use of high duty cycle and v) modular structure. XY family is compared with the recent high step-up converters and the detailed description of XY converter family and its topologies are presented. The simulation results are provided and it confirms the feasibility, functionality and validity of the concepts of the proposed XY converter family.

-In this paper, a non-isolated high step-up and high efficiency boost converter is proposed. By using the 3-level boost converter structure, the proposed converter can obtain higher voltage gain than conventional high step-up converters. The voltage spike of the switching device is well clamped by using the clamp circuit composed of a clamp diode and a capacitor and the energy of the leakage inductor of coupled inductor is effectively transferred to output. Due to the 3-level structure, the equivalent switching frequency of the coupled inductor is doubled, which results in reduced inductor size. A 500 W prototype converter is built and tested to verify performance of the proposed converter.
