High Efficiency Harmonic Harvester Rectenna for Energy Storage Application

Abstract: This work presents harmonic harvester Rectenna integrated power management circuitry for improving RF-DC power conversion efficiency. The circuitry is developed for battery charging or energy storage application; resistance emulation method is used to realize a matching load resistance at output terminals. The proposed technique is useful for harvesting near maximum output power from the dual rectifiers (fundamental and harmonics) independently. Also, it delivers the combined maximal power to the energy storag… Show more

“…Adicionalmente, se ha conectado un elemento posterior al rectificador en un 16% de las rectenas, dicho elemento es un convertidor DC-DC [19,24,26,32,45,47,49,50,55,61,73,79,82,91,92,108,113]. Aunque la eficiencia total de la rectena se ve disminuida por las pérdidas que existen en dicho elemento, éste ayuda a mantener el nivel de tensión que se le aplica a la carga.…”

“…The idea of wireless power transmission (WPT) has been brought to light by Nikola TESLA [1] in 1899; he discovered that energy could be transported by electromagnetic waves in free space. A WPT system contains a transmission part consisting of a DC to microwave conversion block, a transmitting antenna and a reception part also called rectenna [2][3][4][5] (Rectifying Antenna) used to convert the microwave power into exploitable energy to cover the needs in terms of power supply. The rectenna is the key element of a WPT system, it was invented in 1964 by the U.S. engineer William Brown [6] who demonstrated it by an helicopter power by electromagnetic waves transmitted from the ground and received by an attached rectenna.…”
