High-Efficiency Spin-Related Vortex Metalenses

Abstract: In this paper, one spin-selected vortex metalens composed of silicon nanobricks is designed and numerically investigated at the mid-infrared band, which can produce vortex beams with different topological charges and achieve different spin lights simultaneously. Another type of spin-independent vortex metalens is also designed, which can focus the vortex beams with the same topological charge at the same position for different spin lights, respectively. Both of the two vortex metalenses can achieve high-effici… Show more

“…Thus, metasurfaces have been proposed to control the phase and wavefront of light field, and various kinds of the metasurface elements including metalens [11][12][13], metasurface hologram [14,15], beam deflector [16,17], vortex generator [18][19][20] and vector light generator [21][22][23] have been advanced. The designed metasurface elements based on different working modes have different optical performance.…”

“…Xu et al produced two types of polarization-dependent metasurfaces and successfully presented the terahertz cylinder vector beam and vector Bessel beam [41]. Wang et al numerically studied high-efficiency spin-related vortex metalenses at the mid-infrared band through engineering both the propagation phase and PB phase subtly [42]. Based on arranging the geometric parameters of all-dielectric meta-atoms, Liu et al gained stable and high-quality perfect Poincaré beams using spin-multiplexed metasurface for visible light [43].…”

“…There are two ways to achieve beam steering with metasurfaces. The first one is by applying an external electric field to control the material properties of the metasurfaces and manipulate the wavefront [42][43][44][45][46] (named as normal meta-OPA), as shown in Figure 6a. In 2021, Ai et al [42] designed a metasurface structure consisting of graphene ribbons, a dielectric spacer, and metal substrate.…”
