“…Interestingly, only 20% of the patients in the French multicenter study reported genital pruritus, and none of the patients spontaneously reported any genital symptoms. 14 In the current study, anogenital inspection was only performed in patients with clinical symptoms, which explains the 14 LiS predominantly occurred in morphea and generalized LoS, and only one patient with linear LoS had concomitant LiS. In line with this, LiS in the current study was exclusively found in morphea and generalized LoS, demonstrating that these two subtypes are at highest risk for the development of LiS.…”

“…The prevalence of genital LiS is difficult to ascertain; it is estimated to be between 1 in 300 in adults and 1 in 1000 in children . The high frequency of LiS in the controls in this study (3·5%) is comparable with that of recent publications based on systematic genital examination by experienced practitioners, and underlines that LiS may be underdiagnosed.…”

“…Dear Editor , Skin sclerosis is a hallmark of morphoea (localized scleroderma), lichen sclerosus (LiS) and systemic sclerosis (SSc). Genital LiS is significantly more frequent in patients with morphoea, but its prevalence in patients with SSc is unknown. The aim of this prospective multicentre study was to determine the prevalence of LiS in a cohort of patients with SSc, and to compare it with that in an age‐ and sex‐matched control group.…”

“…Some authors consider LSA a superficial variant of morphea whereas others consider them as two unrelated entities. In some cases, referred to as "white spot disease," the differentiation between morphea and LSA can be impossible 3 . Uitto et al 4 were the first to describe a series of 10 patients in which the two entities coexisted.…”
