High-intensity aerial ultrasonic source with a stripe-mode vibrating plate for improving convergence capability

Abstract: The generation of high-intensity aerial ultrasonic waves is achieved by focusing the acoustic waves radiated from a vibration plate into a point. We developed a new point-converging source of high-intensity aerial ultrasonic waves that comprises a striped-mode rectangular vibrating plate to radiate an aerial ultrasonic wave with high efficiency and paraboloid reflectors. The roughness corresponds to the stripe interval arranged on the surface of the paraboloid reflector. The roughness difference depends on the… Show more

“…On the other hand, the disadvantage of this sound source is that the directivity changes when the sound velocity changes by the temperature change. Next, another sound source is a vibrating plate type ultrasonic sound source using a reflector [9,10]. The advantage of this sound source is that the directivity can be adjusted by adjusting the reflector when the sound velocity changes by the temperature change.…”

“…Some studies have developed sound wave modulators which shift phase of reflected waves with reflective cells having different heights. 27,28) To shift phase of the sound waves produced by a stripe-mode rectangular vibrating plate, Ito 29) has used the difference of the height of a reflector; the reflector has caused the sound waves in antiphase to converge into one point.…”

“…There are also rectangular, [19][20][21][22][23][24] square, 25,26) and circular transverse vibrating plate sources 27,28) that can emit high sound pressure sound waves into the air. These use transverse vibrations to generate large vibration displacements in vibrating plates.…”
