High Mechanical Properties of Polychloroprene/Montmorillonite Nanocomposites

Abstract: The principal objective of this study is to improve the mechanical properties of polychloroprene through the addition of montmorillonite. Three modifying cations are tested. The polychloroprene-MMT composite is characterized by FTIR, SEM, EDX, XRD, ICP-MS and TEM. The tensile and tear strength of polychloroprene was increased significantly after the modification of montmorillonite.
