Abstract: Tropical peatlands in South-East Asia are some of the most carbon dense ecosystems in the world. Recurrent wildfires in repurposed peatlands release massive amounts of carbon and other greenhouse gases, strongly alter peat geochemistry and physicochemical conditions.
