High-order harmonic resonance phenomena of a voltage-sourced converter in cable system

Abstract: SUMMARYThis paper presents high-order harmonic resonance phenomena of voltage-sourced converters (VSC). When a voltage-sourced converter is connected to a power system with cables, there is a possibility that minute high-order harmonic voltages of a voltage-sourced converter are magnified by a series resonance and a parallel resonance, and high-order harmonic resonance phenomena are determined by this study. The cause of high-order harmonic resonance phenomena is investigated and elucidated by the analysis usi… Show more

“…It is necessary to introduce the multi-conductor transmission line model [24] to amalgamate electric wires and simplify CTN topological structure. For traction cables, they are composed of forward-flow cables and back-flow cables, both of which are single-core cables [25]. In practical application, the cable metal shielding layer needs to be cross-connected and grounded for suppressing induced voltage in the shielding layer, making induced current flows to earth like marked in Fig.…”

“…But from another perspective, combined with Figs. 9 and 10, when one CCTPSS has almost eight times the power supply length of AT TPSS's length, its resonance quantity does not increase in the same scale, so bad effect [25] is weakened in a way, shortening service life of traction cables and harming railway line safe operation.…”
