“…In literature, it is shown that higher-order sliding mode techniques can improve the performance of the observer in high uncertain conditions. The high-order sliding mode is a generalization of traditional sliding modes in which an injection term acts on higher derivatives of the sliding variable . Higher-order sliding mode observers (HOSMO) have been widely studied and developed for diverse applications in mechanical systems. , More recently, applications of the HOSMO for state and input estimation of bioprocesses have been reported in refs .
