High Precision Sinusoidal Position Tracking of a Voice-Coil Linear Servomotor Using Resonant Control

Abstract: This paper presents a new sinusoidal position-tracking control scheme with a resonant controller for linear motor drive systems. The sinusoidal tracking controller is designed without any added algorithm for system identification and requires only approximate values of the mechanical parameters. Therefore, the controller is simple and robust to parameter variations. The proposed sinusoidal tracking resonant-based controller (STRC) is designed to track reference positions using a cascade control structure with … Show more

“…The internal model principle (IMP) states that the output of a closed-loop control system will asymptotically track a reference if the poles of the Z transform of that reference are embedded into the controller, without zero-pole cancellations [19,20,22]. The term 1 (z − 1)(z 2 − 2 cos(Ω)z + 1) in (28) contains the poles of a step and a sinusoidal signal with frequency Ω. Hence, a GPC strategy that satisfies (28) will track the desired reference.…”

“…Independently of the action system, a microcontroller and electrical actuators are implemented in modern pipe organs as controllers of the registration and used to control the type and the volume of the sound [15]. Voice coil motor actuators (VCMs) are widely used in precision motion systems, miniaturization of electronic equipment and dynamic keyboard systems of musical instruments, which are known for their high-speed and high-precision positioning systems, as well as their simple design and easy control [16][17][18][19]. VCM actuators, which most commonly have a structure similar to hard disk drives (HDDs), are characterized by their small size in the direction of the rotational axis, allowing many actuators to be placed side-by-side in small spaces for miniature organ instruments [20,21].…”
