High Pressure and Superconductivity: Intercalated Graphite Cac6 as a Model System

Abstract: Superconducting CaC 6 is found to exhibit two important pressure effects: (i) a large P-induced T c enhancement up to 15.1 K at 7.5 GPa, the highest T c value hitherto reported for graphite intercalated compounds; and (ii) a dramatic T c drop down to ~3 K at a critical pressure of ~9 GPa suggestive of a structural instability. We show that a combined electrical resistivity and x-ray diffraction study under high pressures provides a comprehensive account of both phenomena within the frame of the BCS theory in t… Show more

“…And C 6 Ca exhibits 𝑇 c = 15.1 K at high pressure of 7.5 GPa. [34] In addition to the bulk GICs, superconductivity in doped graphene with lithium, [35] potassium [36] and Calcium, [37] etc. has been studied theoretically and experimentally.…”

“…The Ca and Ca-Li intercalated B/C and B/C/N compounds were air and water sensitive material, which is like the case of alkali metal or Ca intercalated graphite 21 . The Ca intercalated BC6.4 film slowly decomposed in air to expand in the thickness direction.…”
