High school principals as leaders: styles and sources of power

Abstract: Purpose This research presents the characteristics of leadership (style adopted, sources of power exercised and factors affecting leadership) of high school principals in Greece. Design/methodology/approach 235 school principals were surveyed using questionnaires. “…Overall, it appears that NOW demonstrated the education professionals’ concern over TQM practices, whereas in SHOULD BE, professionals expressed strong conformity and agreement with TQM principles and a willingness to adopt them. For NOW, the lack of correlation for ME exemplified the current debate in Greece on whether education professionals should be evaluated and according to what criteria as suggested by recent studies (Brinia and Papantoniou, 2016; Sfakianaki et al , 2018).
