High temperature Mössbauer effect study of Fe90Zr7B3nanocrystalline alloy

Abstract: Fe90Zr7B3 NANOPERM alloy is investigated in as-quenched and nanocrystalline forms by means of high temperature (up to 1040 K) Mössbauer spectroscopy. These studies are aimed at revealing the relationship of microstructure to magnetic properties for57Fe phases and their temperature dependences in NANOPERM-type ternary alloy at temperatures exceeding the onset of the second crystallization. For this purpose the nanocrystalline sample was prepared by annealing an amorphous precursor at 893 K for 1 h providing 5… Show more

“…Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS) is a method that directly correlates magnetic states of the studied materials with their structure through hyperfine interactions [7][8][9][10]23]. It is, however, quite time consuming and thus not suitable for observation of rapid dynamic processes.…”

“…Magnetic [1,2] and thermodynamic [3] properties of NANOPERM alloys are frequently studied by conventional as well as local probe methods that provide information from the whole bulk of the investigated samples. Surface features, however, deserve still closer inspection.…”

“…Bulk magnetism is thoroughly studied also by Mössbauer spectrometry [1]. The latter was employed even at elevated temperatures of measurement [2,3] to follow temperature behaviour of iron nanograins. Their vibrational thermodynamics was recently studied by nuclear inelastic scattering of synchrotron radiation [4].…”
