Highly active carbon nanotube supported iridium, copper, ruthenium catalysts for glucose electrooxidation

Abstract: Herein, carbon nanotube (CNT) supported ruthenium (Ru), iridium (Ir), and copper (Cu) catalysts at 0.1 to 20 wt% metal loading are prepared by the NaBH4 reduction method for glucose electrooxidation reaction (GER). These catalysts are successfully characterized by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and N2 adsorption‐desorption measurements. Voltammetric measurements of these catalysts are taken using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. The crystallite sizes of these catalysts are… Show more

“…A single‐step glucono‐lactone formation occurred on the Cu‐3NG electrode surface, and no adsorbed products or species present in the alkaline medium remained on the Cu atom at the end of the reaction as depicted in Figure 2D. Cu/CNT catalyst has been reported as one of the promising catalysts for energy production from glucose in direct alkaline FCs reactor in the experimental literature 77 …”

“…Therefore, the OH-species in the electrolyte were located close to the stimulating H atom and hemiacetalic H. Although OH species were placed at various distances ranging as one of the promising catalysts for energy production from glucose in direct alkaline FCs reactor in the experimental literature. 77 The formation of glucono-lactone was investigated in different OH-species orientations on other metal surfaces (Pt, Au, Zn, Ni).…”
