Highly Cited Articles of Corrosion Research in Science Citation Index Expanded

Abstract: Two chapters entitled "of the mechanical origin of corrosiveness" and "of the mechanical origin of corrodibility" by Robert Boyle in 1675 were considered the origin of corrosion research [1]. In the beginning of 19 th century, the whole subject of corrosion was observed an electrochemical phenomenon [2]. The corrosion of ammonium nitrite [3], diazo solutions [4], brasses [5], iron and steel [6] were paid attention. The research on the corrosion of brasses in 1907 received an award granted by the American Elect… Show more

“…On the other hand, researchers tend to cite high‐quality papers and indicative papers that are useful for their own research (Mohr et al , ). A high citation count is an indication of high impact on the research field, and reveals the recognition of research advancement (Fu & Ho, ). Therefore, researchers have indicated that a list of highly cited papers can be used to identify the advances in the research foci (Lin, Lin, & Tsai, ; Tang, Li, Hsin, & Tsai, ).…”

“…Tang et al, (2016) affirmed that a list of highly influential articles could be helpful to emphasize the advances in a particular field. Fu and Ho (2018) imply that the number of citations confirms the impact of an article in the field and also highlights the acknowledgment of research progression. Accordingly, the current study assessed the extent to which highly cited articles have influenced the field of OCB.…”

“…Relevance model of science education (Stuckey et al, 2013) 3 / 18 al., 2017). Such articles not only signify substantial influence within the research field but also encapsulate classical research topics and valuable research queries within the domain (Flores et al, 1999;Fu & Ho, 2018). Consequently, a literature review containing a compilation of highly cited articles can aid novices in identifying pivotal research advancements and significant topics that scholars frequently prioritize.…”
