Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Bulgaria - a review

Abstract: The aim of this review was to summarise the information about the cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Bulgaria during the last two decades. According to the EMPRES-I FAO data, from January 2006 to the end of 2019, 141 HPAI outbreaks have been registered in Bulgaria, with two identified virus serotypes (H5N1 and H5N8).
