Highly Reliable Fuzzy-Logic-Assisted AODV Routing Algorithm for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Abstract: Due to the noncentered, self-organizing, and self-healing characteristics, mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) have been more and more widely used as an alternative access technology for regions having no fixed infrastructure. On-demand routing protocols (e.g., ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV)) are used to cope with the rapidly changing topology of MANET and reduce the network overhead. Taking delay, stability, and remaining energy of nodes into consideration, a fuzzy-logic-assisted AODV (FL-AODV) routing al… Show more

“…Thus, maintaining routing table information is not essential in this technique. This approach was proposed by Broach et al Perkins et al proposed another method AODV (Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) routing (6) , (5) , (7) . This approach produced better results than DSR in terms of establishing a routing path from one to another which is more reliable.…”

“…A fuzzy logic based AODV algorithm was proposed by Li et al [32] to increase the route's reliability in MANET. The most reliable relay node is chosen during the route discovery phase, and the most reliable route is set aside for data transmission.…”

“…This method aims to minimize the impact of UAV dynamics. Li et al 16 developed a fuzzy logic-assisted ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing algorithm that considers latency, stability, and residual energy, selecting the most reliable node for data transmission. Studies 17 21 have introduced firefly and ant colony algorithms into routing protocols, optimizing node selection for the next hop based on factors such as energy consumption, buffer congestion, and hop count.…”
