Several methodologies based on ISO/IEC 27000 international standard have been developed to deal with risk analysis in information systems (IS). These methodologies do not, however, consider imprecise val-uations, but use precise values on different, usually percentage, scales.We propose an extension of the MAGERIT methodology based on classical fuzzy computational models. A linguistic term scale is used to represent asset values, their dependencies and frequency and asset deg-radation associated with threats. Computations are based on trapezoidal fuzzy numbers associated with linguistic terms. A similarity function is used to associate a linguistic term on the previously defined scale to the trapezoidal fuzzy numbers resulting from computations. Finally, regarding the selection of preven-tive safeguards to reduce risks in IS, we propose a dynamic programming-based method that incorpo-rates simulated annealing to tackle optimizations problems with the aim of minimizing costs while keeping the risk at acceptable levels.An example of an administrative unit using in-house and third-party information systems internally and to provide public information services is used to illustrate the methodology.

Resumen: Aunque el uso de términos lingüísticos permite a los docentes realizar una evaluación de competencias educativas de una forma natural y significativa, la evaluación de mapas de competencias puede ser una tarea imprecisa, ya que debe ser considerada una gran cantidad de información sobre las relaciones existentes entre elementos (competencias y actividades de evaluación), pesos de tales relaciones y niveles de competencia. Con el propósito de abordar este problema, este trabajo propone un modelo difuso basado en 2-tuplas lingüísticas para evaluar competencias educativas teniendo en cuenta las características de los mapas de competencias. Adicionalmente, se presenta una aplicación Java, la cual fue usada para evaluar la propuesta mediante datos reales. Los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que la propuesta es efectiva y eficiente.Palabras-clave: Educación, Evaluación, Lógica difusa, Mapas de competencias. Competency maps assessment: a fuzzy proposal based on 2-tuplesAbstract: Although the use of linguistic terms enables teachers carry out educational competencies assessment in a natural and significant way, the competency maps assessment may be an imprecise task because teachers have to consider a large quantity of information related to relations among elements (i.e., competencies and assessment activities), weights of such relations and proficiency levels. In order to address this issue, this work proposes a fuzzy model for assessing competencies based on the features of competency maps by using the 2-tuples approach. Additionally, a Java application is presented, which was used to assess the proposal by means of real data. The results indicate that the proposal is quite effective and efficient.

The goal of this paper is to develop a system, referred to as the Management System for Merging Learning Objects (msMLO), which offers an approach that retrieves learning objects (LOs) based on students' learning styles and term-based queries and produces a new outcome. The first step ranks LOs using a unified learning style model and creates better LOs by merging the top-ranked LOs. The second step maps LOs onto a hierarchy of concepts to avoid including duplicated topics in the merged LO. Fifty-six students were randomly split into experimental and control groups. The experimental group browsed the LOs retrieved by the msMLO based on the students' learning styles, term-based queries and merge functionality, whereas the control group browsed the LOs retrieved based on the students' learning styles and term-based queries. The results demonstrated that the experimental group improves their learning performance, thus msMLO is a promising approach.
