“…represent by necrotic in the kidneys and liver. The present study, there were degenerative changes in the kidney as vacuolated/dilated cortical tubules and vacuolation of cell lining, fibrosis and foci of inflammatory cells in the liver, but the changes in kidney and liver not progress to necrosis as reported(13) in rats (14). reported significant histopathological changes in the kidney of treated rats with sulfonamide, represent by of slight degenerative in the renal parenchyma, but no mention of any change in liver of treated rat,(14) agreed with the present study in respect of degenerative changes in the kidneys of treated pigeons with sulfonamide.…”

“…(12) reported case report of hepatotoxicity, in this paper entitled sulfonamide hepatic injury. (13) studied the histological effects of pre-exposure prophylactic consumption of sulfa drugs on liver and kidney of albino wister rats (rattus novergicus). (14) reported that sulfonamide treatment of rat gave significant histopathological changes in the kidney of rats.…”

“…These results were compatible with the present study except we detected irreversible injuries like tubular necrosis in high dose administration (30 and 70 mg), and also, in our study, embryos received a single dose of sulfadiazine. Odigie [14] investigated the morphological alteration of visceral organs (kidney and liver) of albino Wister rats pre-exposed to prophylactic consumption of sulfonamide based drugs. Histological findings indicated that oral treatment by 3 and 4 mg drug for 21 days caused infiltration of inflammatory cells, congestion 4 Zahedan J Res Med Sci.…”

“…[6] In response to the ongoing, it is important to examine the side effects that may be associated with the indiscriminate consumption of SJ as treatment option, which is administered as a self-prescribing herbal therapy without a safe-dose regimen, and may also be without a standard preparatory procedure. [11,12] Consequently, with respect to the multifunctional morphological makeup of the liver and kidney as well as the testes (for sexual performance and enhancement); it becomes imperative to censoriously examine these specialized organs that is constantly being exposed to an indiscriminate intake / or prophylactic abuse of herbal preparations too frequently. [11] In view of the numerous works thought to have been carried out on the biochemical, haematological, phytochemical, histological and acute toxicity studies [1, 2, 5 & 6] ; there remains a dearth of literature on the histopathological effects resulting from the prophylactic consumption of the ethanolic root extract of SJ on some organs of interest (liver, kidney and teste) in this study.…”
