“…Of the 120 workshop participants, only Alan Rogol and Eberhard Nieschlag had met Harry Klinefelter in person, the former as one of his medical teachers at John Hopkins in Baltimore and the latter at an International Klinefelter Symposium in Murnau in the Bavarian Alps in 1983 (Bandmann et al, 1984).…”

“…Plasma hor mone levels were within normal ranges in our case. In patients with sex chromosome abnormality, severe hyalinization of seminiferous tubules and hyperplasia of Leydig cells are usually observed [11], Furthermore, hyper gonadotropic hypogonadism is common in sex chromo some abnormality [12]. These facts suggest that histolog ical changes of the testis and hormonal abnormalities are milder in Robertsonian translocation than in sex chro mosome abnormality.…”
We report a case of Robertsonian translocation associated with azoospermia. The literature is reviewed, and testicular histology and hormone condition are discussed.
“…Histological studies on tes ticular biopsies from patients with sex chromosome ab normality show severe hyalinization of seminiferous tu bules and hyperplasia of Leydig cells [10], In autosomal translocation, partial or complete arrest of spermatogene sis and slight hyperplasia of Leydig cells are observed [ 11], The histological changes of the testes are considered to be milder in autosomal translocation than in sex chromo some abnormalities. However, the elevation of plasma FSH and severe histological changes in the testis were observed in our case.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
