Histone Deacetylase, Xanthine Oxidase and Urease Inhibitory Activities of Eremurus spectabilis M. Bieb. Extracts

Abstract: Objective: Natural ingredients derived from plants (especially edible ones) continue to be investigated for understanding whether they have therapeutic/preventive effects on certain ailments, such as cancer and gastrointestinal disorders. The main goal of the current work is to investigate the inhibitory potential of Eremurus spectabilis M. Bieb. extracts on histone deacetylase (HDAC), xanthine oxidase (XO) and urease activities.Material and Method: Fresh E. spectabilis leaves were obtained from a local market… Show more

“…For the 70% ethanol extracts preparation, 20 grams of plant material were extracted by Soxhlet apparatus with 200 mL 70% ethanol for 8 h until fully colorless. Ethanol was removed by rotary evaporation (Bibby, USA) under reduced pressure at 50°C 17 . Extracts were concentrated, dried and kept in the dark at -20°C for further experiments.…”

“…In a recent study, it was shown that ethanolic and ethyl acetate extracts of E. spectabilis M. Bieb. have an inhibitive action against histone deacetylase, xanthine oxidase, and urease enzymes (9). In addition, the aqueous extract of this plant exhibits inhibitory effects on diabetes mellitus and skinassociated enzymes (i.e., α-amylase, α-glucosidase, elastase, hyaluronidase, and tyrosinase, respectively) (10).…”
