Historical Review of Research and Development of Linear Antennas in Tohoku University

Abstract: SUMMARYInvention and development of the Yagi-Uda antenna in Tohoku University, Japan are described. Communication experiments in VHF and UHF frequency bands using transmitter and receiver developed in the same university as well as the Yagi-Uda antenna are also presented. Then, self-complementary antennas, which is the frequency independent antenna invented in Tohoku University are described. Analysis methods of large loop antennas is also presented.
