Histórico E Objetivos De Um Projeto Extensionista: Formação Esportiva De Crianças Por Meio Do Basquetebol

Abstract

The history and objectives of the Baby Basketball Outreach Project, linked to the Basketball for All Program of the State University of Santa Catarina, were analyzed. The general and technical coordinators, in addition to the first monitor of the project, participated in the study. Information was collected and observed using the ETCI qualitative research technique and document analysis. The Project was created in 2013 and is characterized as a pioneering action in the Brazilian university context, offering the practice of the modality for children from 4 years old onwards. The Project's initial objectives were to offer basketball practice and develop children's motor skills, in a recreational and leisure perspective, while the current objectives aim to enable the continuation of basketball practice by practitioners, contribute to the training of coaches and teachers for the modality and become a research space that feeds back the activities made available to the users.
