History, development, and a new concept of phthalocyanines in Turkey

Abstract: Unfortunately, with the exception of our work on this subject, almost no papers have been published in Turkey or in other countries since then. We strongly urge scientists to consider working on this new type of phthalocyanine, which shows interesting development potential in electrical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic applications as well as oxygen reduction for fuel cells.

“…These differences themselves show either broad Q band or splitting Q band. Hence, a strong intermolecular interaction between the Pc rings indicates lowering of symmetry [16]. As mentioned in Nwaji's study, this confirms that the broadening of the Q band observed for BPcs is not due to aggregation.…”

“…The observed Φ F values were lower for the ball-type derivatives than those of other derivatives peripherally substituted related to metal effect and substituent as well as structure [14,15,73]. This is attributed to the ball-type structures prompting intersystem crossing to the triplet state [14][15][16][17]19]. Faceto-face interaction is expected to decrease the fluorescence due to decreasing the energy gap between triplet-singlet state [17].…”

“…However, this turns out to be an advantage for preparing hetero dinuclear ball-type Pcs as one can get different redoxactive metal centers in the molecule. 9,10 In recent years, our group has reported a number of studies on ball-type Pcs with various substituents, such as pentaerythrital, 11 tert-butylcalix- [4]arene, 12 1a,8b-dihydronaphtho[b]naphthofuro [3,2-d]-furan-7,10-diol, 13 phenolphthalein, 14 3.3′-methylenebis (4-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one), 15 bis[2-hydroxy-5-methyl-3-(1-methylcyclohexyl)phenyl]methane 16 and 9H-fluorene-9,9-dimethanol. 17 These Pcs, metal free or containing two homo-or hetero-metal centers, have attracted attention due to their interesting properties.…”
