“…Interpreting the appearance of C. neoteretis, numerous studies assume that the intensification of AW inflow along the Svalbard margin occurred relatively simultaneously during the Bølling-Allerød (Klitgaard Rasmussen et al, 2007;Ślubowska et al, 2005). In the Laptev Sea, this species has been connected to Atlanticderived water from ∼ 15.4 ka onwards (Taldenkova et al, 2010). AW presence is also inferred prior to ∼ 14 ka off West Greenland (Sheldon et al, 2016a).…”

“…This socalled "sink switching" acts as an efficient P trap in sediments and limits the diffusive flux of PO 4 towards the water column (Ruttenberg and Berner, 1993;Slomp et al, 1996). As a consequence, sedimentary P concentrations can be a measure of the organic matter supply to the sediment (Calvert and Pedersen, 2007;Tribovillard et al, 2006). Trends in sedimentary P with sediment depth have, for instance, been used as evidence that upwelling zones were more productive during interglacial stages compared to glacial stages (Ganeshram et al, 2002).…”

“…Besides sedimentary P concentrations and C org / P ratios, the occurrence of vivianite ((Fe 3 PO 4 ) 2 · 8H 2 O) in sediments is also used in reconstructions of paleo-environmental conditions in lake and marine basins (e.g., Derkachev et al, 2007;Kalniņa et al, 2000;Taldenkova et al, 2010). These Fe(II) phosphates can precipitate in surface sediments with sulfide-depleted porewaters that are rich in both Fe 2+ and PO 4 (Berner, 1981;Nriagu and Dell, 1974;Nriagu, 1972).…”

“…Given that the flooding of the Siberian shelf proved to have important effects on the climate in the Arctic, and in particular in the Nordic Seas, we want to compare our results in the following section with proxy estimates of sea-ice conditions and try to relate our found feedbacks of the Siberian shelf flooding to the reconstructed transgression of Bauch et al (2001) and Taldenkova et al (2010), which gives our simulated impacts a time frame from 9 ka, a dry shelf as in 9kOGSIB / 9kOGSIBGIS, to 7.5 ka BP, a flooded shelf as in 9kOG / 9kOGGIS.…”

“…Estimates for the Laptev Sea (i.e. a shelf not covered by ice sheets during the last glacial), illustrate the rapid rise in the sea level in the Arctic, from 31 m to 7 m below the present level between 8.9 ka BP and 7.5 ka BP (Taldenkova et al, 2010;Bauch et al, 2001), leading to a completely flooded shelf at 5 ka BP. A tentative extrapolation of these sea level stands to other shallow seas in the Arctic suggests that large areas were affected by similar flooding during the early Holocene, such as the large shelf areas in the East Siberian (National Geophysical Data Center, 2001) in the Arctic and 9 ka BP ICE5G ice mask from Peltier (2004).…”
