Hoaxes are false information deliberately shared as facts. They are spread through multi cyber-chatting platforms. Unlike mass media, which distribute information through a gatekeeping process, social media do not operate the same function. As a result, thousands of information disseminate rapidly. Hoaxes can also be shared through mass media. Therefore, journalists, as the gatekeeper of information sharing, as well as the audience, who consume the information, should apply critical thinking skills to distinguish true facts from hoaxes. Partnership is one of the effective ways to combat hoaxes as conducted by Independent Journalist Alliance, Google News Initiative, and Internews. This research used case study method through unstructured in-depth interviews for primary data collection. The research objective was to analyze partnership-based education as an effort to hoax prevention. The study has revealed that partnership for preventing hoax creates new synergy so that the goal can be achieved effectively. Mass media need to be more critical and careful when obtaining information like photos and videos by conducting verification using some tools in Google.
