Hodgkin’s Lymphoma - evaluation of patients submitted to Autologous transplantation of hematopoietic cells in the Hematology Service of the Hospital Walter Cantídio – Fortaleza, Brazil.

Abstract: SUMMARY The Autologous HSCT is an important alternative for refractory or recurrent HL patients in terms of survival and improved quality of life. This study analyzes the results of autologous BMT performed in HL patients in the Transplant Unit of the HUWC/ HEMOCE (Fortaleza - CE, Brazil). Fifty-two transplanted patients were studied from January 2009 to October 2015, among them, 30 men and 22 women, mean age of 28.2 years. All of them received GCS-F during the mobilization, in some cases associated with Vinor… Show more

“…Given the early incidence and improved survival rates of HL, 21 as well as the psychosocial burden and impact of this disease on the patients’ daily life, 22 establishing a framework of comparison for the assessment of HRQoL in this clinical population is essential. This study provides reference values for the EORTC QLQ‐C30 for patients with HL and survivors.…”

“…This study was not without limitations. First, the high incidence of HL in young adults 21 and the very nature of survivors’ samples induced an age imbalance between the two clinical groups being compared. Second, the patient group was exclusively composed by patients diagnosed with an advanced stage of HL, which might not be representative of patients with early‐stage HL.…”

“…Pacientes submetidos ao tratamento, a depender do estágio ao diagnóstico e fatores de risco envolvidos, podem entrar em remissão da doença em cinco anos. Apesar de protocolos eficazes e com bons prognósticos, até alcance de cura em alguns pacientes, outros são refratários ou apresentam recorrência do linfoma, cerca de 10% e 20 a 25%, respectivamente (Duarte et al, 2016;Küppers, Engert, & Hansmann, 2012).…”

“…Despite these advancements, approximately 10% of HL patients remain refractory to these treatments in whom auto-HSCT remains one of the most important alternative treatment modalities. [24] Plerixafor is an additional option for use in auto-HSCT. G-CSF with plerixafor augments the mobilization of CD34 + cells, particularly in patients who are considered poor mobilizers.…”
