“…The IC 50 for bare DOX was calculated to be ∼4.25 ± 0.12 µg ml −1 , whereas when it was encapsulated in CDs, the IC 50 was achieved to be ∼0.625 ± 0.1 µg ml −1 , which implied that a quite lower dose of CDs-DOX is enough to assassinate the cancer cells. In our earlier results, we used DOX with different nanocapsules for the treatment of MCF-7 cells and obtained a very high IC 50 (∼4.5 µg• ml−1) [66,67], whereas, DOX used with other nanoparticles reported [68,69] having very high IC 50 compared to the present finding. Therefore, these CDs have better efficacy in the treatment of breast cancer.…”

“…For the ZnO@SiO 2 nanocapsules, the absorption peaks at 1040 cm −1 are justified as the asymmetric stretching vibration of the Si−O−Si bond, [32] while the absorption peak at 796 cm −1 is caused by the Si−O−Si symmetric stretching vibration contribute [33] . Moreover, this band can be cross‐checked through 1634 cm −1 , which also is attributed to the scissor‐bending vibration of molecular water (−OH) [30] …”

“…Figure 4 shows the FTIR spectra of ZnO NPs and ZnO@SiO 2 nanocapsules with different ZnO NPs contents. All samples have an absorption peak at 464 cm −1 , which is ascribed to the vibration absorption of the Zn−O bond, [30] and which have all intense absorption peaks appeared at 3600–3000 cm −1 due to the O−H stretching of H‐bonding of free moisture [31] . For the ZnO@SiO 2 nanocapsules, the absorption peaks at 1040 cm −1 are justified as the asymmetric stretching vibration of the Si−O−Si bond, [32] while the absorption peak at 796 cm −1 is caused by the Si−O−Si symmetric stretching vibration contribute [33] .…”
