Hollow POM@MOF‐derived Porous NiMo6@Co3O4 for Biothiol Colorimetric Detection

Abstract: Developing highly active and sensitive peroxidase mimics for L -cysteine ( L -Cys) colorimetric detection is very important for biotechnology and medical diagnosis. Herein, polyoxometalate-doped porous Co 3 O 4 composite (NiMo 6 @Co 3 O 4 ) was designed and prepared for the first time. Compared with pure and commercial Co 3 O 4 , NiMo 6 @Co 3 O 4 (n) composites exhibit the enhanced peroxidase-mimicking activities and stabilities due to the strong synergistic effect between porous Co 3 O 4 and multi-electron Ni… Show more

“…The lower K m value stands for the stronger affinity between the catalyst and the substrate. 47–49 As can be seen from Table 3, for the ABTS oxidation reaction, The K m value with H 2 O 2 as the substrate was 0.85 mM for 1 , 1.08 mM for 2 , and 0.94 mM for 3 , and the K m toward ABTS was determined to be 0.167 mM for 1 , 0.185 mM for 2 , and 0.113 mM for 3 , respectively. MOFs 1–3 exhibit approximately 3–4 times higher affinity toward H 2 O 2 , and 5 times higher affinity toward ABTS compared with HRP, indicating that the MOFs 1–3 possess excellent peroxidase activity.…”

“…The L-Cys in the human physiological environment is an essential amino acid that affects various biological reactions, such as DNA synthesis, detoxification, metabolism, and signal transduction. [45][46][47] Nevertheless, the abnormally high or low levels of L-Cys may do great harm to different human tissues. Thus, it is of great significance to explore a better strategy for accurate detection of L-Cys in early biomedical diagnosis.…”

“…19,20 Firstly, the formation of MOFs@POMs ensures the dispersion of POMs at the molecular level, in turn improving the full contact between the POMs and substrates. 17 Secondly, due to the good interaction and electron transfer between MOFs and POMs, 20,21 MOFs@POMs can effectively improve the structural stability and promote the catalytic activities. Thirdly, because the bigger countercations occupy the large space around POMs, inhibiting the access to the active sites of POMs, 17 protons on the MOFs may substitute the countercations of POMs, providing an almost unencumbered path to POM shells.…”
