Holographic electroweak symmetry breaking from D-branes

Abstract: We observe several interesting phenomena in a technicolor-like model of electroweak symmetry breaking based on the D4-D8-D8 system of Sakai and Sugimoto. The benefit of holographic models based on D-brane configurations is that both sides of the holographic duality are well understood. We find that the lightest technicolor resonances contribute negatively to the Peskin-Takeuchi Sparameter, but heavy resonances do not decouple and lead generically to large, positive values of S, consistent with standard estimate… Show more

“…Such models have also been adapted to describe walking [248] technicolour [249,250] dynamics for electroweak symmetry breaking in [251][252][253][254][255]. It is worth remarking that very similar ideas to these models have inspired the field of Higgsless electroweak models [256,257] and their deconstructed [258,259] partners for example in [260].…”

“…Such theories have been discussed from a phenomenological viewpoint in Refs. [50,51,52,53]. The Sakai-Sugimoto model can be generalized by placing the D8 branes at a separation L R S 1 on the circle the D4 branes are compactified on [54].…”
