Holographic reconstruction technology used for intraoperative real-time navigation in robot-assisted partial nephrectomy in patients with renal tumors: a single center study

Abstract: Background: To explore the efficacy and advantages of real-time navigation using holographic reconstruction (HR) technology combined with da VinciTM robotic system for partial nephrectomy (PN) in patients with renal tumor. Methods:The clinical data of 41 patients with totally intrarenal tumors receiving robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) from April 2018 to October 2020 in our department were collected and retrospectively analyzed. All operations were performed by the same surgeon. HR technology and thre… Show more

“…Future prospects regarding treatment options for renal cancer are mainly evolving in the direction of digital imaging. Three-dimensional reconstruction seems to be useful for optimization of partial nephrectomies [ 29 ] and digital technology navigation during surgery can decrease operative time and complications [ 30 ] thus further reducing the burden of a surgical treatment. Advances in the field of percutaneous ablation could lead to an expansion of this technique especially in patients not suitable for surgical treatment who are not willing to undergo AS.…”

“…Surgeons that perform RAPN greatly desire an augmented reality‐based navigation system 37 . 3DVR images are mostly used for navigation during RAPN surgery, although holograms were used in some studies 38,39 . In da Vinci surgery, it is common to use TilePro to display 3DVR images.…”
