Research hotspots and trends of the tele-rehabilitation for stroke survivors based on CiteSpace: A review

Our first goal is to understand the research status and popularity of telerehabilitation research for stroke survivors since 2012; the second goal is to analyze the research trends and frontiers in this field, and provide a scientific basis for the future application of telerehabilitation technology in patients with poststroke functional defects. We searched the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) for literature on telerehabilitation for stroke survivors published from 2012 to 2022. The included articles were visually analyzed using CiteSpace6.1.6R (64-bit). In total, 968 eligible articles were included in this study. In the past 10 years, the number of papers published on telerehabilitation after stroke has been increasing annually, with the largest number of papers published in the United States and Australia, with 101 papers published by Chinese scholars. Some subsets of cooperative networks have been formed among major research institutions and their authors, but the scale remains small, and academic exchanges and cooperation need to be strengthened further. Research on virtual reality (VR) technology and rehabilitation robot technology is popular, and the choice of time and intensity of rehabilitation exercises, patients’ participation in rehabilitation exercises, and care are also worth attention. In the last 10 years, research on telerehabilitation technology in the field of rehabilitation for stroke survivors has steadily developed, and is characterized by multidisciplinary joint development. Countries around the world can combine their own characteristics and advantages, strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation with mature research institutions or authors, and explore suitable poststroke remote rehabilitation technologies and service models in different environments.

Background. In most settings, patients receive phase 1 cardiac rehabilitation in CTVS ICU at the hospital, but there are several barriers to follow-up after patients are discharged from the hospital. Physiotherapists play an important role in the enrolment and continuation of cardiac rehabilitation. Thus, we aim to study the knowledge, attitude, and practice of physiotherapists about CR program adherence among patients discharged from the hospital after cardiac surgery. Objectives. (i) To study the knowledge of physiotherapists about the importance of cardiac rehabilitation after discharge; (ii) to know the attitude of physiotherapists towards cardiac surgery patients after discharge; and (iii) to know what approach various centres are applying for patients after discharge to ensure adherence to cardiac rehabilitation. Methods. A questionnaire was developed with reference to the objectives of the study, which was answered by a total of 127 physiotherapists. Results. The overall response rate was 42.3%; nearly 35.4% of the participants indicated that they knew a lot about CR, while 5.5% said they knew very little. Regarding the program’s content, 36.2% of participants reported having a medium degree of awareness of the diverse CR components, while 8.6% reported having very little knowledge of them. Only about one-third, 35.7% stated that CR in India is effective and 95% believed that CR will have an added value for the country. Approximately 80% of respondents thought that it would be challenging for a physiotherapist to recommend patients to a CR in the nation. Nearly 35% of respondents believed that they, “themselves as physios,” needed to commence CR, and slightly less than 70% thought that doctors were required to choose and refer the patients when asked who should take the initiative to start this kind of programme in the country. A little over 40% of respondents said that insurance firms are also involved in starting a CR programme. Conclusion. Physiotherapists have good knowledge of cardiac rehabilitation. However, their attitude and practice towards adherence to exercise protocols are confounded by various clinician- and patient-level factors.

Cutting-edge and topical issues in the treatment of breast cancer with traditional Chinese medicine based on CiteSpace bibliometric analysis

Background: Breast cancer poses a significant health threat to women, marked by high incidence and mortality rates. Although modern treatment primarily involves surgery and chemotherapy, which may reduce quality of life, limited analysis exists on the effects of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on this aspect. In this paper, bibliometric software was used to study the literature related to TCM in the treatment of breast cancer to provide researchers with new insights and directions for development. Methods: By using CiteSpace and VOSviewer, we conducted an analysis of literature on TCM in breast cancer treatment from the Web of Science Core Collection (2013–2023). The assessment encompassed countries, institutions, journals, authors, keywords, and references, providing a comprehensive overview of developments in the field. Results: Analyzing 7419 articles, this study revealed an increasing trend in TCM research on breast cancer from 2013 to 2023. China and its institutions, particularly Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, made significant contributions. Liu Zhishun emerged as the most prolific author, while Y. Macpherson received the highest number of citations. The journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine received the highest number of citations. Research primarily centers on TCM approaches for enhancing breast cancer patients’ quality of life and elucidating their underlying mechanisms. Conclusion: Numerous studies have investigated TCM in treating female breast cancer, revealing treatment trends, analyzing major research topics, currently focusing on acupuncture, breastfeeding, and TCM, which have a greater impact on positively ameliorating breast cancer. Influential authors and publications were also identified. These insights provide valuable guidance for future research, contributing to the foundation for developing effective TCM strategies for breast cancer.
