The volume of revision total hip replacements will continue to increase. Projection based upon existing epidemiology data estimates that nearly 100,000 such operations will be required by 2030. Disparities exist with regard to the clinical outcome, costs, and patient access to subspecialists. The increasing volume of revision total hip replacement undoubtedly will pose significant burdens upon surgeon availability, resource utilization, and cost containment.
