Hotspots, frontiers, and emerging trends of tandem solar cell research: A comprehensive review

Abstract: A tandem solar cell (TSC) is a kind of special photovoltaic (PV) device with two or further sub-cells stacked in it. On the basis of Web of Science database and CiteSpace software, the literature about TSC research from 2000 to 2019 is reviewed. The top 10 hotspots are deduced (efficiency, performance, film, silicon, design, open circuit voltage, polymer, morphology, oxide, and growth), yielding prominence of the primary roles of devices and materials in PV research. The top 10 research clusters are analyzed (… Show more

“…This study conducts bibliometric searches on WoS collections using “microreactor*” as an index term for subject search. The wildcard * is used to avoid missing occasional plural subject terms [27–29] . Moreover, English documents published from 2001 to 2021 were collected, and 9,407 bibliometric records were obtained.…”

“…Three types of solar cell generations have been developed so far. The first generation is composed of crystalline Si solar cells, the second is composed of thin-film solar cells such as CdTe, CIGS, and AsGa, and the third is composed of emerging solar cells such as dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and polymer solar cells [64]. Crystalline silicon-based solar cells are the leaders in the world PV market by up to 90 %.…”
