“…While there have been efforts in increasing the supply of licensed midwives, the size of the midwifery workforce in Canada is not increasing proportionately (Canadian Institute for Health Information, 2020), suggesting a problem with the retention of midwives. Furthermore, both nationwide (Zeytinoglu et al (2020) and province-specific (Stoll & Gallagher, 2019) reports have shown a high intention to leave the profession among practicing midwives in Canada.
