There are many economic parameters that may affect environmental degradation.At the forefront of these parameters is the productive economic structures of the countries The present paper discusses the dynamic relationship between carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions, economic growth and productive capacity index (PCI) for a panel of 38 OECD countries spanning the period 2000-2018. The empirical study applied PMG-ARDL approach, panel cointegration techniques and Granger causality tests the examine the short and long-run association between the variables. The cross-sectional dependence test of Pesaran (2004) revealed the use of the second generation panel unit root tests (CADF and CIPS). The cointegration relationships between the variables are proved using Westerlund and Pedroni cointegration tests. The estimated coefficients of PMG-ARDL revealed that the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis is established. Besides, the empirical findings obtained from long-run estimation confirm that productive capacity has a significant role on increasing environmental quality.

This present research examined the association among carbon emissions, financial development, economic growth, natural resources, and energy usage in GCC nations within the environmental Kuznets curve framework by applying the datasets between 1995 and 2019. It used some empirical approaches, including second-generation unit roots and cointegration methods and method of moments quantile regression (MMQR). We detected a cointegrating interconnection between carbon emissions and financial development, energy usage, economic growth, natural resources, and squared of economic growth in the long term. Furthermore, the findings of the MMQR reveal that economic growth, financial development, energy usage, and natural resources degrade the environment, as well as proving the presence of the EKC hypothesis. Moreover, the results also demonstrated that financial development greatly moderates energy usage in order to attain environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the fixed-effect ordinary least squares, fully modified ordinary least squares, and dynamic ordinary least squares were also used in the study as a soundness check of the MMQR approach. The path of causality moves from financial development, economic growth, and squared of economic growth to CO2 emissions. Lastly, the causality direction runs from carbon emissions to energy usage. Based on these findings, the energy mix of the region must be revised by ensuring the promotion of sustainable energy sources and other energy-efficient technology in order to attain the quality of the environment.

According to UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC, 2022), COP26 summit the global leaders urged the nations to develop the production capability and enhance the domestic capacity through technological progression and structural transformation. The set of BRICS-T economies (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and Turkey) account for 43 per cent of the global population and occupy around 30 per cent of land area across the global landscape in 2017. Additionally, they account for about 40 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions in 2017. Therefore, this study investigates the role of renewable energy, export diversification on ecological footprint for BRICS-T countries over a period of 1990–2019. This study also examines the moderating effect of ecological-innovation on agriculture in BRICS-T countries. We use the parametric and non-parametric econometrics techniques to empirically imply the relationship between these series. According to Augmented Mean Group and Kernel Regularized Least Square methods, the role of economic growth, agriculture, export diversification, ecological innovation and the moderating effect of ecological innovations on agriculture impact the ecological footprint in the long-run respectively. Indeed, non-parametric time-varying panel data models with fixed effects is used to check the robustness. The policy insights have been explained in the conclusion section.
