Abstract: Background Gastrostomy tubes (GTs) provide life‐saving enteral access for children. Although upper gastrointestinal (UGI) series and impedance studies (ISs) detect gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or malrotation, their benefit for preoperative evaluation of asymptomatic patients requiring GT placement is controversial.
