HPLC—high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry: Identification and determinarion of β-agonists in food and feed

Abstract: A method is proposed for the simultaneous identification and determination of 19 β-agonists by exact ion masses in feed, meat, liver, and kidneys of animals using high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry combined with HPLC and simple and fast sample preparation. Matrix effects under the conditions of electrospray ionization were eliminated by the dilution of the extract with a 10-fold volume of deionized water. A scheme of the identification and determination of analytes by the standard addition method… Show more

“…TOF‐MS with full‐scan mode proves more suitable for the identification of unknown compounds and the rapid screening analysis of known compounds in complex matrixes. This technology has been extensively used in various fields and used to analyze the possible substances that affect the quality and safety, such as food additives , contaminants , illegal nonfood substances , pesticide and veterinary drugs residues , and major constituents . So far, the exact mass databases have been established mostly based on LC, mainly for pesticide residues , and there are relatively few researches based on GC together with high‐resolution MS.…”
