Abstract:Background
Plasmodium falciparum malaria is a leading cause of pediatric morbidity and mortality in holoendemic transmission areas. Severe malarial anemia [SMA, hemoglobin (Hb) < 5.0g/dL] is the most common clinical manifestation of severe malaria in such regions.
